Backup & restore

A practical Android backup checklist

A practical Android backup checklist — illustrated guide
THE SHORT VERSION

A useful backup needs more than a completed progress bar. Check scope, storage, passwords and a sample of the result.

STEP 01

Choose what you need to keep

Review contacts, media, files and app packages that the tool supports. A device backup is not a guarantee that every app can export private data, passwords or protected content.

STEP 02

Save the archive somewhere safe

Use your own trusted computer, check available storage and protect the archive password. Keep the archive and password separately; losing the password can make an encrypted backup unusable.

Keep the owner in control

Agree on the task, explain changes before making them and end sharing when the work is done.

STEP 03

Verify before you rely on it

Review the backup result and check a sample of saved files. Before a repair or reset, keep an additional copy of irreplaceable data. Restore supported items in small groups and check the result.

PUT IT INTO PRACTICE

Start with one small task.

Download CaIoT RemoteViewer for the local Android toolkit, or book a demo to walk through the remote service that fits your situation. Check device compatibility and the current plan details before you begin.
